Crab Pie

This dish has been popular from Pichilemu to the cool waters of the southern Maulina coast. However, it is in the small but charming towns of Iloca and Pellines where crab pie reaches its true mastery.

Ingredients

½ kilogram of Cooked crab meat (Chilean crab)

½ cup of Finely chopped onion

1 ½ Chopped garlic clove

1 tablespoon of Oil

1 tablespoon of Margarine

3 Sliced sandwich bread

½ cup of Fish broth

½ teaspoon of Color chili

¼ cup of Grated Parmesan cheese

½ teaspoon of Oregano

1 pinch of Salt

1 pinch of Pepper

Preparation

Step 1 : To begin, fry the onion and garlic in oil.

Step 2 : Next, add the crumbled crab meat, color chili, oregano, and fish broth.

Step 3 : Then, soak the sliced bread (without crusts) in milk.

Step 4 : Crush the bread crumbs by hand to remove excess milk and pass through a sieve or colander.

Step 5 : Mix the bread, or you can also use sliced marraqueta bread, into the crab mixture and add butter, salt, and pepper. Pour into a baking dish.

Step 6 : Sprinkle the remaining grated Parmesan cheese on top. Preheat the oven.

Step 7 : Bake for approximately 15 minutes to gratinate.

Step 8 : Serve hot and enjoy with family or friends.
